Rally news 2008 - 2009 season
This season hasn't been very good for us as we lost Mo from the team due to his illness. He has now been diagnosed as Hypothyroid. He is responding very well to his medication and has started back running in harness for short distances. He has been teaching Natalie the ropes as the pair of them can manage the same distance at the moment. They have also had a couple of short runs as a four dog with Wilson and Norris which have went very well. Natalie is looking very promising in harness and has had had a few runs with her brothers and sisters as part of a 6 dog team. She is enjoying running with Mo and will be a valuable addition to the team next season. We are very pleased with Wilson this year, running as a two dog with Norris, although possibly not so pleased with the racket he makes before and after he has ran! The pair of them run well together and are also good pals at home. Norris, as always is ever dependable and has worked hard this season. Cam is really looking forward to a 4dog team next season as long as Mo can get back to full fitness.
We had been hoping to do the NSDSC events this year but unfortunatley Culbin had to be cancelled due to ice and the Tayside Triple has also been cancelled. That leaves Fetteresso which we are looking forward to but we probably wont do the longer distance, instead opting to do a shorter run so that Mo can join in. It would be a shame to leave him in the van when he is eager to work, but he is unable to run much distance as he lacks muscle and fitness at the moment. We did run at Culbin organised by Matt and Helen Emery which was very a enjoyable rally. It was Wilsons first rally but I was unable to be there for the first day as I was kennel sitting for a friend. I did get along the second day to see them running and catch up with a few people. Cam ran the two boys in the three dog class and finshed up sixth.
We also hope to run at Quithel at the end of the season, possibly with Mo in the team which would be good. Hope to see you all then.
Well, unfortunatley Fetteresso had to be cancelled as well due to harvesting / weather. We are still getting the dogs out though and are now just concentrating on training runs with Natalie joining the boys. We also decided not to go to Quithel this year and instead opted for a quiet weekend training...............That didnt stop the drunken phone calls from friends who were dancing the night away at Quithel! Oh well, thats it for another year... Hopefully we will still be able to get some runs in ovetr the summer months and see you all next season.
