The
working season is now underway and there are lots of races / events
across the country. If you are interested in seeing sled dogs
working or finding out more about sled dog breeds then get along to
a race. Visit
SnoPeak to find out about events near you.
The dogs are running well so far and have also had a change of
diet so time will tell whether this has an affect on stamina etc.
We will only be at a few short races this year as we have been training
for slightly longer distances which has been difficult due to higher
temps this year. Everyone is fit (well the dogs anyway!!) and
happy though which is the main thing and Witchy our GSD is enjoying
running on the scooter this season.
We really enjoyed this rally. Great atmosphere, lovely trails and good weather.

This was an excellent event. The trails were lovely and the weather was great. Our guys loved the 11 miles. They were so happy coming in over the finish! We decided to run the 7 miles the next day which they also loved. A huge thanks you to the organisers and all those who took part over the weekend.
Another good event, but unfortunatley we could only make it on the Sunday. The dogs hadn't been out as much as we would have liked due to Camerons work so we decided to do the shorter 6.5 mile trail instead of the 9.3miles. The boys were great and managed to knock 3 minutes off their time from last years event.
This was the first time we had been at this rally and we were not disappointed! Thanks to the organisers for a great rally. The trail was lovely and the dogs enjoyed it. We had Chorni and Jinks from the Gwaihir kennel so we were able to run in the 4 dog class. Unfortunatley, Norris wore his quicks down so we didn't run the second day. Instead we went over to Gwaihir and did some training with them instead. Thanks to David and Helen for allowing us to run Chorni and Jinksx.
Well, thats it for another season. We had a pretty quiet rally season this year and it will be the same next year as we will be attending the longer events organised by the NSDSC. We may attend a few shorter rallies at the beginning of the season. Its April just now and the weather is already hot!!! Doesnt look good for a cool summer.............................. Hopefully we will manage a few short fun runs over the summer months and some swimming!
