If you are thinking
about a Siberian Husky Puppy, please use the breed clubs to find a
reputable breeder. Have a serious think about whether or not a Siberian
would fit in with your lifestyle. Links can be found on our
Links
page. Its always a good idea to go along to some rallies or
shows and get to meet a few dogs and people. Ask questions about
the breed, we all love talking about our dogs! Try and visit a few
kennels as well to see what the dogs are like at home and to get an
idea of the type of Siberian you would like.
Breeders
should ideally be a member of one, or both breed clubs and abide by
their code of ethics. Most breeders will not breed from dogs unless
they want a puppy themselves and the dog(s) have proven themselves
on the trail and/or in the ring. Don't be surprised if a breeder wants
to do a home visit. All dogs should be Kennel Club Registered and
hip and eye tested and you should ask to see copies of both.
All dogs can have a pedigree, but make sure the puppies you are looking
at are KC reg. Beware of those who always have puppies available,
there are lots of people who only breed for money, avoid them.
You should be able to see the pups with their mum. Alarm bells
should ring if this is not possible, unless it is a very good reason.
Make sure you feel comfortable with the breeders themselves and with
temperaments of the puppies and other dogs,..............if you aren't
walk away.
